Sending & Tracking

Once your update is drafted and reviewed, it's time to send it to your investors.

Before You Send

  1. Review your draft — Use the web and email previews to check formatting and content.
  2. Select recipients — Choose which contacts receive this update.
  3. Check your domain — If you've set up a custom domain, make sure it's verified. Otherwise, updates send from your default UpdatePilot address.

Sending

Click Send Update to deliver your update. The update is marked as sent and your streak counter advances.

Custom Sender Address

By default, updates are sent from no-reply-{your-slug}@updatepilot.ai. To send from your own domain (e.g., updates@yourcompany.com), see Custom Domains.

Open & Click Tracking

Pro plan feature. When tracking is enabled:

  • Opens — UpdatePilot records when a recipient opens your update email.
  • Clicks — Link clicks within your update are tracked.

Tracking data appears on the update detail page after sending.

Engagement Scores

Pro plan feature. UpdatePilot calculates an engagement score for each contact based on their open and click history across all your updates. This helps you identify your most engaged investors — and the ones who might need a nudge.

After Sending

  • View the sent update from your dashboard by clicking on it.
  • The update detail page shows the full content, send date, and tracking data (Pro).
  • Sent updates cannot be edited, but you can reference them when writing future updates.
